I’m a writer and former oncology nurse living on Wurundjeri Land in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia).
My interests include:
- Haiku poetry
- Gothic novels
- Australian history
- Psychedelic music
Between 2020 and 2025 I wrote an exploration of Australian symbols in English language haiku poetry which you can read here: Cactus Haiku.
In 2017 I was the lead author of a qualitative study about Cancer-Related Hair Loss and the Cancer Council Victoria Wig Service. The study was presented at the 13th Behavioural Research in Cancer Control (BRCC) conference in May 2017, but it has not been published elsewhere. You can read it here: Cancer-Related Hair Loss and the Cancer Council Victoria Wig Service.
You can find my brief biography and a list of my other research and writing here: Research and Writing.
I curate WeirdMelbs on Blusky, a list of photos of bizarre things that people try to sell in South-Eastern Australia. Find it here: @weirdmelbs.bluesky.social
I create themed playlists under the username Marsyas Browne on Apple Music and Spotify.
